Beschreibung

Heute sind die Begriffe Bochum und Madonna vor allem über den Verein zur Förderung der beruflichen und kulturellen Bildung von Sexarbeiterinnen (https://www.madonna-ev.de/) verbunden.

1912 war die Bochumer Madonna, hier als Zeichnung aus dem „Wahren Jakob“ zu sehen (Foto: Linda Unger, Quelle: https://www.bochum.de/C125830C0042AB74/vwContentByKey/W2CVC8A6521BOCMDE/$File/Bochumer_Madonna.pdf). Sie wurde zu einer Ikone des solidarischen Freiheitskampfs – zu einer Zeit, in der auch in Deutschland auf Streikende noch scharf geschossen wurde und das Eintreten für eigene Interessen die Existenz der ganzen Familie in Gefahr bringen konnte. Das Bild dieser Bochumerin mit ihrem Kind, die im Gefängnis landete, mutmaßlich weil sie einen Streikbrecher angespuckt haben soll, war als Kalenderblatt eines der Archivalien, anhand derer wir in unserem Podcast diskutierten.
